Dirndl Dress Oktoberfest Handmade Brocade/Velvet/Organza/Cotton (Blouse+Petticoat+Skirt+Corset+Purse+Stockings)

May I present you another handmade dindl? Well, here we have some brocade, velvet, organza, and so much handstitching that the fingers are hurting:)! As I always do with historical and folkloric clothes, I looked more at historical accuracy than to dirndls that are commonly sold today. No matter if you get a cheap or a luxurious one from a traditional store, it’s either a one piece clothing item, or a sort of blouse with a dress, looking quite similar. I guess some of you are more into more unique Bavarian folk dress with some reality of how it looked historically. That’s why I construct dirndl dresses from blouse, corset/corsage, petticoat, skirt, and apron. The things that may vary are fabrics, colour combinations, contrasts, and slightly the design. This dirndl, like my other ones, also is ADJUSTABLE TO MORE SIZES – the red velvet skirt closes with elastic draw string, and it’s sewn almost 180C, so it fits small and bigger sizes of waist and hips. The ’50s style petticoat under it should add a nice fullnest. The blouse is a traditional cotton, size L (BUT IF YOU NEED IT THE BLOUSE CAN BE REPLACED for a similar one of another size). If you’re smaller, it doesn’t make it too big because the corset comes over it and is as well adjusting to your waist, chest and hip size. Mentioning corset, I chose again a XIX century-inspired design, with front closing and lacing at the back. It has 2 pairs of steel bones and the rest are synthetic baleen (imitation of whale bone used in history). It has brocade & taffeta applied by hand all over it, with shoulder straps that can be adjusted at the back (depending on your measurements). At the front there are 2 pairs of antique Bavarian deco-hooks for dirndl-jewellery that traditionally hangs down your bust. Thus I added a chain with hanging traditional symbols for you to wear it:). You can either choose to wear the corset tucked into the skirt or over it, but over both skirt & corset comes, as always, the apron. I chose a fine, 3 layer-organza in yellow-orange colour, and I used the brocade matching with the corset on its hem, with a small triangle over it to accentuate. The apron is traditionally tied on the left front side if you’re single and on the right side if you’re “taken”, but it doesn’t matter so much today. What is more important, I constructed a matching purse with a biiiig metal heart & alpine flower that can be either worn separate or attached to the apron string. At the end, as always, you’ll get stockings as well, so all you have to take care are shoes! The other thing about this dirndl (as well as others I’m making) is the fact that you can put it away and wear it again in different occasions, but especially – because they are separate items, you can combine as you wish!
